Medina Picnic (Chihuahua Trail #4) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

txrancher: Somebody either didn't replace the container correctly or perhaps a muggle thought it was cute and took it home.
Decided to start archiving this series as they disappear. Let someone else have some fun.
It has been a wonderful few years of activity.

Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache, the container is a magnetic key box.
It is located in a highway picnic area inside the city limits of Castroville. Lots of traffic here, PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION AND STEALTH!

This is another double whammy, being a part of two different series of caches I have established over the past year or so. Other caches in the Chihuahua Trail series are GCV9TK, GCV1CG and GCV0JX.
Unfortunately I cannot give you double credit for it! Sorry.
Castroville was established shortly after the war of independence with Mexico by Henry Castro, probably not an ancestor of good old Fidel.
The Chihuahua trail passed through here on the way west to El Paso. It was the main east west route across south Texas providing supplies from the port at Indianola to San Antonio, El Paso and the many military forts constructed to protect the progressing settlers from the indians. Read some of the history at this link. (visit link)
This is an attractive picnic area at the western edge of Castroville overlooking the Medina River Valley.
I had a probelm locating a site to place this cache as the area doesn't offer too many hiding places as it is well groomed. You will have to go down a fairly steep hill to access the cache, I would recommend a walking stick for this cache.
DID I MENTION? PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION AND STEALTH! THANKS.
