Lippits Hill and Barn Hill afford great views over Epping Forest and the Lee Valley. This cache was planted during a walk from Lippits Hill down to Sewardstone and then back up over Barn Hill. The walk went through Gilwell Park; headquarters of the Scouts. Lippitts Hill is the site of the Metropolitan Police firearms training centre (co19), airbourne support unit and an interesting looking coldwar bunker.
The walk finished at The Owl public house and a fine lunch was had by all. The Owl has a large car park and I have to admit we used it for parking whilst walking and planting the cache.
The cache site is on a bridle path called Green Lane. Although it's wide enough to be a green lane as far as I can see it is only a bridle path so please go to the cache on foot or on horse back. There are several other caches within a mile or two and of course many others in Epping Forest
The cache itself is a small tupperware container with a log book and a few small swaps. It is not large enough for large swaps or most travel bugs. The cache is a reasonable walk from the nearest parking and the path can be muddy. Hence the terrain rating. Hope you enjoy the cache.
