FHVFD Dinosaur Cache Traditional Cache
Pokchop: Sadly, I am going to have to Archive this one... This was one of my most favorite hides! (The other being Big Iron Ghosts GC10T4R) I never get out this way enough anymore to ever check on it, upgrade it, or perform the needed maintenance. I'm sure that the container is still there, and will retrieve it as soon as I have time to get all the way out to that part of the country.

Small plastic 'sandwich box' with black duct tape
This cache, located in northeast Madison county, is located behind the 'Farmhaven Volunteer Fire Prevention District' Fire Station on Hwy 16 E, East of Canton.
Hidden behind the station in a small tract of pine and cedar trees, sits a beautiful red Dinosaur! She has been lovingly known as 'Cathy' for numerous years. 'Cathy' started her vigil of service as the first Fire Engine for the city of Canton (approx. 1951, since Cathy is a 1951 Chevrolet one ton). I'm not sure how long her servitude ran, but i know that she was of great usefulness to the citizens of Canton and the surrounding area for Many years.
After a short line of duty in Carthage, reserve status for other outlying volunteer fire departments, and a short stay at a Vo-Tec center in Madison county where there was hope of, but lack of funding for, refurbishing for use as a parade unit, Cathy found her way to Farmhaven. Here she waits for her day again, this Dinosaur lies in waiting to be of service again.
If you attempt this cache, please remember, DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE BAY DOORS!, enjoy the hunt, and stay out of, and off of, the 3 peices of fire apparatus that you will see while you hunt (these are not toys, and could possibly be dangerous if one were to attempt to get too close). watch out for the normal MS summer creepy-crawlies, poisonous plants, and the normal geocache issues. CITO. (btw, Cathy is the one on the right, pulled nose first into the tree line)
Take a Dinosaur from the cache while they last, and enjoy getting to see an actual "real life dinosaur".
