The cache is located near Lindberg Road and the old railroad bed, now Rails to Trails. Lindberg Road used to be a through road that ran from Plank Road to Honeysette Road. The part that ran from the railroad crossing to Honeysette was abandoned in the 1960’s due to many fatal car and train collisions. The railroad continued operations until December 1978 when it was also abandoned.
A toll gate for Plank Road once stood on the corner with Lindberg Road. During Prohibition, a Bootlegger ran his operation on the stretch between Plank and the railroad crossing.
Recommended parking is on the south side of Route 430, East Chautauqua Street, in Mayville. The state has a pond with picnic tables located beside the road so you may want to have lunch and enjoy the wildlife. The trail starts near a building on the opposite side of Route 430 at about N 42’ 15.754 W 79’ 29.640
There is room for a few small trade items in the cache. Initial contents are: Log Book, pencil, a Capital Dome stamp and toy fireman, cow, alien, lighthouse and Lion King. Please replace the cache carefully so that others may enjoy finding it too.
