From the parking spot, you can see the Killievair stone in the corner of the field. It can be reached easily although depends upon what is planted in the field at the time of your visit. Please be considerate.
The Killievair stone is a striated stone with no symbols, cup or ring marks, however apparently a local rhyme states:
"Between the Killievair and the Buckler stane,
there lies many a bluidy bane"
The Buckler stone, no longer visible, lay north at Langhaugh, less than a mile away. The rhyme supposedly refers to an ancient battle in AD83 between the Romans, led by Agricola, and the Picts, led by Calgacus. Known as Mon Graupius, the actual site of the principal battle is unconfirmed. The main contenders include Bennachie in Aberdeenshire and Gask Ridge in Perthshire, but Stracathro has also been suggested.
