Grantham Scouts – The Cub Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

granthamscouts: This Cache has gone missing. The marker post has been repainted a single Red Oxide primer type colour, possibly by the Canal Trust, so there is no longer any connection to the Scouts.
This cache was here for almost 13 years, but time to call it a day on this cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache is near a colourful marker post on the National Cycle network. A simple flat walk along the canal towpath or the national cycleway.

This cache is placed not far from the crossing point of an old railway line, the Grantham Canal and the Devon river, which actually goes under the canal at this point.

The National Cycleway 'Millennium' Marker Post was decorated by the Cub Scouts of the 10th Grantham Scout Group as part of a national competition in 2004. There are 1,000 of these posts, in 4 different designs, along the National Cycle network.

This is one of a series of caches placed as part of the local celebrations of a Centenary of Scouting in 2007. Each cache in the set increases in difficulty as befits their incrementing age ranges within the Scout Movement. The locations are spread across the area covered by Grantham Scout District.

The Scout Association has a long history of community involvement and outdoor activity; it is our hope that the cache in this series will combine those areas. Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends. If you would like more information about Scouting in the UK, either in one of the sections, Beaver, Cub, Scout, Explorer or Network, or as an Adult Leader or Supporter, please follow this link The Scout Association.

Update for October 2012. Coordinates have been updated for accuracy. Please put this back exactly where you find it. Thanks.
