Geocache Description:

Located in a small town park intended for daylight use only. All waypoints are within 20ft. of trails. No need to bushwhack.

In the mid eighteen hundreds this was open pasture. Two young oak trees grew quickly in the open sunshine. As evidenced by their massive crowns, their branches reached out, hungrily grasping sunlight without the obstruction of competing growth. The grazing sheep and cattle enjoyed the shade that the spreading branches provided on hot summer days. These two trees must have many memories, and now they hold the secret information that will lead you to the cache.

THE ABOVE COORDINATES WILL BRING YOU TO THE FIRST OLD OAK.

PARKING IS AT N 42 56.535 W 71 32.092

Above is the original cache description; below is newer supplemental information:

Thanks are due to "Grampa Cardigan" as the original hider of this classic cache.

The solid-rock-seekers (who were the first finders of the cache on 14 April 2006) adopted the cache in 2022 to continue to maintain it for future generations of cachers to enjoy.

The waypoints have been updated to be engraved brass tags which won't smear, tear, or rust over time. The current cache container dates from 21 September 2006, when Grampa Cardigan replaced the original container with a better one.

In the time since the cache was originally hidden, the trails in the park have been re-routed, so the second olde oak, which used to be near a trail, is now a relatively easy bushwhack from the current trail system.  Accordingly, the cache is now more difficult than the original 1.5 terrain rating would indicate, but the original terrain rating has been retained for historical reference.
