A quick little puzzle cache that will introduce you to a neat little piece of Manatee history
When you arrive at the first step of this cache you will find yourself at a white picket fenced area known as Rye Cemetery. You may or may not be able to gain access to this location but you can still get the clues to the second and final section of this cache. There are a couple different places to park, your choice. At the listed coords you will find out a couple pieces of information of some people who’s last name matches the cemetery name. You need to figure out how old Mary and Erasmus Rye were when they passed away (take note of their AGE, not just the years). Take note of these ages and put them in the following to get to the final coords of the cache :
N27 30.(703 + MARY’S AGE) W82 21.(496 + ERASMUS’S AGE)
This will give you the coords for the final part of this cache. Before you take off to the final have a look around the cemetery. We were a little taken back at the young age on some of the headstones.
The final is a regular cache and contains a log book, pen and pre-stocked with some trade items. To reach the second part of the cache you may need to take a hike around a stream or test your talents and try to walk across a fallen tree (if not underwater). If the weather stays dry you may be able to walk across the stream bed but as soon as the rains hit, you will be challenged more.
This area has public bathrooms, a great area for the kids to play, and many, many more trails to discover!
