Geocache Description:

Small camouflaged plastic container hidden just in woods very near parking.

Havens Park is 65 acres of trees, trails, and paths. The City acquired ten acres in 1949 and the remaining 55 acres were donated to the City by the Anthony family to honor Mrs. Anthony's family, the Havens. Havens Park features a driving and walking area and bicycle trails. The park is now used for walking, dog exercise, and bicycle-cross. There are many beautiful Redbud trees and nice views to be discovered. Unfortunately, the park was not used very much in the past and some inconsiderate parties have decided to take advantage of this for some dumping. Consequently, there is plenty of opportunity for CITO credit. Some areas do have broken glass scattered about. This is a park with great potential and as use increases, so will improvements.

The cache is named “Old Bones” because while looking for a good hide, we were drawn to the area by something white in the underbrush. We found an animal skeleton not too far from the point we picked for the hide. The skelton is now long gone. This cache is located about 20 – 30 feet from parking. It may require some bushwhacking and/or a short climb depending on how you approach it. You are looking for a camouflaged plastic container hidden in the usual manner. Inside is a special “First to Find” prize in addition to an assortment of things for all ages.

There is to need to go on any private property to get to this cache.

Leavenworth parks are open only from daylight until 10:00 PM.

CAUTION: JANUARY 1ST TO JANUARY 31ST THIS PARK MAY BE OPEN FOR HUNTING AS PART OF A DEER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM. BRIGHT CLOTHING OR HUNTING ORANGE CLOTHING ARE RECOMMENDED.
