Castillo de Sanfiro

El cache se encuentra en el castillo de Sanfiro en Las Peñas de San Pedro, en la provincia de Albacete.

Considerado antiguamente como una fortaleza inexpugnable, este castillo data del siglo XII y fue disputado en varias ocasiones entre musulmanes y cristianos hasta que en 1242 quedó definitivamente en manos de estos últimos. Más recientemente en 1836 fue ocupado por Ramón Cabrera en la I Guerra Carlista. Y ya en el año 1859 el castillo es abandonado y derruido y actualmente sólo quedan de el algunos vestigios como la muralla exterior y algunas construcciones bajo tierra.

En 2015 es parcialmente reconstruido, cerrando todo el perímetro con una muralla, adecuando los aljibes y en general haciéndolo más seguro para la visita

Para acceder a Las Peñas de San Pedro (no confundir con San Pedro) hay que coger la carretera CM-3203 desde Albacete capital y recorrer unos 30 km. Muchos aficionados a la bicicleta hacen esta ruta los fines de semana, pero hay que indicar que no es apta para principiantes puesto que si bien la mayor parte del trayecto es llano, los últimos kilómetros hay unas cuestas pronunciadas y el viento suele ser acompañante permanente en la zona.

Una vez allí podemos dar un paseo por el pueblo viendo su Plaza Mayor con el Ayuntamiento y la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La esperanza, ambos de estilo barroco del siglo XVIII. Si queremos acercarnos más al caché con el coche podemos estacionarlo en (N 38º 43.648' W 2º 00.000') donde hay una explanada justo donde empieza la ascensión que obligatoriamente tendremos que hacer a pie.

Subiremos por el empinado camino que da acceso a la peña. A mitad de camino podemos observar que otro camino mucho más empinado surge a la derecha, este ya esta restaurado, por lo que podemos tomarlo o seguir recto. Una vez arriba nos dirigiremos a las coordenadas publicadas donde se encuentra un punto geodésico (N 38º 43.684' W 1º 59.931' 1106m). En esta zona de la peña suele hacer mucho viento, por lo que es recomendable llevar buena ropa de abrigo en invierno. Junto al punto geodésico se encuentra una virgen a la cual tendremos que contar el número de estrellas que tiene en la corona de la cabeza, supongamos que este número de dos cifras es XY.

Ahora hacemos los siguientes cálculos:
(XY*XY)-10 = ABC (numero de 3 digitos)
D = B+A
E = C-B+A

Las coordenadas finales del caché son: N 38º 43.(6+A 5+B 3+C)' W 02º 00.ADE'

Castle of Sanfiro

The cache is in the Castle of Sanfiro in Las Peñas de San Pedro, in the province of Albacete (Spain).

Considered formerly like an unconquerable strength, this castle is dates from the XII century and it was disputed in several occasions between Muslims and Christians until in 1242 when was definitively into the hands of Christians. More recently, in 1836, it was occupied by Ramon Cabrera in the First Carlista War. And in the 1859 castle is left and demolished and in the actually they are only some vestiges like the outer wall and some constructions under earth.

In 2015 it is partially reconstructed, closing around the perimeter with a wall, adapting the tanks and generally making it safer for the visit

In order to accede to Las Peñas de San Pedro (do not confuse with San Pedro) it is necessary to take CM-3203 highway from Albacete and to cross about 30 km. Many cyclists make this route at weekend, but it is necessary to indicate that it is not apt for nascent although most of the route is in level, at the last kilometers there are pronounced hills and the wind usually accompanying you in the zone.

Once we were there, we can walk by the town seeing its Plaza Mayor with the City council and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, both of baroque style of century XVIII. If we want to approach our car to the cache we can park it in (N 38º 43.648 ' W 2º 00.000') where is a esplanade where the ascent begins that obligatorily we will have to do on foot.

We will raise by the lofty way that gives access to the rock. Half of way we can observe that another way much arises raised to the right, this one is harder, you can follow it or go straight. Once above we will go to the published coordinates where there is a geodesic point (N 38º 43.684 ' W 1º 59.931' 1106m). In this zone of the rock usually it is very windy, reason why it is recommendable to wear good clothes of shelter in winter. Next to the geodesic point there is a virgin who we will have to count the number of stars that she has in the crown of the head, we suppose that this number of two digits is XY.
