Geocache Description:

Short walk from parking area

To those of you with an interest in man’s ability to create large and remarkable structures this cache will be impressive

The Berg River Water Project will yield 81 million cubic metres of water a year and have a gross capacity of 130 million cubic meters. The 70 metre high wall will also be the tallest dam wall in South Africa. The wall will be about 990 metres in length. At this time the construction is underway and one can appreciate the immense feat at hand.

From the R45 on the way to Franschoek there is a board showing the turnoff to the Berg River dam. There is a guard and a boom where visitors have to sign in. Just tell the guard you would like to visit the viewing point. No entrance fee is charged.
