Prairie Creek Park did not have a cache and it needs one.
[ You can now park in the Prairie Creek Marina Cafe parking lot N 36.21.259 W 094.03.043. The trek to the cache is only about .3 mile.]
This is a regular cache in an ammo can. The original contents are:
A variety of lanyards, mostly for game fans. Very desirable for gamers. We should make this a lanyard exchange. Bring new ones and swap if you like.
Multiple toys (kid friendly)
Inflatable ball
Shoppers Reward Card Travel Bug
GeoCoin
This is a very popular location in the spring and summer. More than 22000 visits last year. Includes boating, fishing, swimming, picnics, camping and hiking.
Park at these coords: N36 21.007 W094 03.009
This is near the trailhead of the Rim Rock Nature Trail. The arrow is on a tree (very small) to the right of the restrooms. Stay on the trail and it is a fairly easy hike, round trip 30-40 minutes. The cache is off the trail a short but rugged distance. While the hike is kid friendly, there are some dangerous locations for falling. Remember, this is Arkansas and be prepared for hitchhikers (ticks).
I received approval from the ranger who stated that caching is allowed, but don't bother the campers. And there is a day use fee in all Corp of Engineer parks. If you come very early or late it is ok, and you might not have to pay, but a visit to the park is worth the token fee. If you have a yearly pass, it is good at all Corp parks in Arkansas.
There are 2 other caches in the area; Prairie Creek Micro II and Gateway to Beaver Lake Prairie Creek.
Congratulations to Skyhawk Star FTF!
