North West Excursion Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SGT red jeep: Returning to this location, it did appear to have been affected by the spring and early summer flood. I tore the hiding spot completely apart, to determine that the cache was indeed gone. Yep, nothing. Checking out the area and the obvious direction of the water flow, I actually turned up the container about a hundred yards away. Since it was a sturdy 7.62 ammo can, the contents were still dry and in good condition. With the hiding spot destroyed, I will relocate the cache in a new location a little further away to give cachers another chance to find the container. Look for North West Excursion II coming soon to location near here.
Thanks for all who searched and found the container and for the two favorite postings.

Geocache Description:

Ammo can hidden in the woods by a local fishing spot along the Yellowstone River.

This cache is named for a trip to Alaska I recently returned from. Just a short walk in the woods from a dirt road. The cache is filled with items you could use while geocaching in the far Northwest.
Original contents:
Compass (in case all twenty-four satellites go down)
Rain Poncho (some areas get a lot of rain)
Mosquito Net (the mosquitoes are deadly up there)
Mosquito Repellent (did I mention that the mosquitoes are deadly?)
Hand warmers (for caching in the winter)
Flashlight (also for caching in the winter)
Ski wax (not to make them shiny, to make them fast)
Where's George? dollar
I am also releasing the Northwes Alaskan Eagle Geocoin that I acquired from an Alaskan Geocacher (Northwes). He is very involved with the sport and does a lot to enhance the geo-experience in Alaska.
Turn off the highway at N47 34.555 W104 15.748. Follow the dirt road to N47 34.465 W104 14.255, turn left and keep following the road to get you within a couple hundred yards of the cache.
