Roscoe Pratt Memorial Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The terrain isn't too bad. Just a little math will get you to the second part. This was hidden on Easter Sunday, 2006. The actual cache is not in the cemetary. Use care when getting and replacing cache.
This cache has been made in the memory of our Grandpa. Roscoe was born November 11, 1909. He was a hard worker his wholelife. As a single, young man, he joined the CCC's to help support his family during the Great Depression. He worked in the logging camps here in the U.P., which enabled him to learn the logging trade. For his efforts, he earned $30 a month, $25 of which was required to be sent directly home to his parents. To earn extra money to help his folks, he opened a make-shift barber shop where workers could get a haircut for 5 cents. After the CCC's, Grandpa used his knowledge to become a successful logger here in this area. He was a kind and gentle man that played a mean game of cards and loved to play practical jokes. He always had a joke to tell, a poem to recite, or a comical gadget to trick you with. During his retirement, he and his wife Lorraine "Babe" could be see traveling the whole U.S. in their motorhome. He died just before his 88th Birthday. He would have loved geocaching. This is our way of making him a part of it!
To the actual cache:
North Coordinates...N 45 55.XXX Take his age when he got married and multiply it by 8. Then subtract the number of musical BEATS you see on the stone.
West Coordinates....W 086 55.XXX Take his age when he died and multiply by 9. From that number, subtract the last number in the year of his wife's birth.
