The bridge known locally as the Pierce bridge spans the Ammonoosuc River in Bethlehem, NH.
This bridge was originally built in 1928 to carry Route 302 over the Ammonoosuc River. When Route 302 was straightened and relocated a new bridge was built further north. The original bridge, which is still is in good condition, has no use except to get walkers from one side of the river to the other. It doesn't really connect anything to anything anymore and the former roadway has been replaced with grass. When you are on the bridge look upstream to the fastest growing mountain in the North Country. It is a very contentious topic for the people of Bethlehem.
