Located near a popular Mat-Su Park, Kid's Cache is part of a 3 cache series that also includes Lady's Cache and Matanuska Man Cache--something for the entire family! Despite the map, the cache is not located on the opposite side of the river---zoom in for better accuracy.
In winter, you'll need to park outside the gate near the Old Glenn and hike a short ways. Wear snow boots, skis, or snowshoes. In the spring, like today, a pair of rubber boots will come in handy.
Veer to the right into the camping area. Look for campsite #37 and head off on the trail that leads into the cottonwood forest. You will not need to leave the trail until right before the cache. The cache is well-hidden, (but obvious to a seasoned cacher) hence the 2 difficulty. Be sure to tuck the box back into it's hidey hole. It may take a minute to slide it back in, but a little time will provide a fun hide for the next cacher.
The cache is a large green ammo box--a hidden treasure trove for kids. It begins with. . . polar bear socks, a pocket etch-a-sketch, Dino-lite key chain, Nascar stickers, bad bunny sticker, AK critter stickers, a Nemo pen, a new Hot Wheel, X-wing fighter, lizard stamp, clock wizard, tribal body tatoos, and Heart Bear. There is a FTF button for that lucky FTF cacher. Please trade fairly or not at all. Resist the urge to trade McDonald's toys and keep the cache a true treasure box.
