Big Bulky Barrier Traditional Cache
J.A.R.S.: Picked up our BBB cache. Had a cold but lovely walk to the dam. My dog met several wonderful dogs along the way. The cache was in great shape. The logbook was filled with some interesting amusing and childish muggle entries. But it was fun to get some diary-esque entries - miss those days when most paper log entries were like journal entries - and I was pleased that they left the container in it's hiding spot and did not damage it. It's been a good 8 years (planted in 2006). Time to put this one to bed to keep our cache hides at a manageable level. Thanks everyone for your nice online log entries over the years.

1 km to the cache.
Park on Victoria Rd just south of the bridge over the Speed River.

You’re GPS will tell you that you can get closer by going
down Conservation Road but there's no (legal) parking, a very steep
hill, and a river in the way.
GORBA bike map: http://www.gorba.ca/Map/GORBA_Trail
Take the main trail along the river. About half way there, after
the farmer's field, the main trail can get very muddy due to deep
bicycle ruts. There’s a drier trail just in the forest that
parallels the main trail. But don't get turned around, stay close
to the main trail.
Once you are near the cache site you might want to walk about 25
meters ahead and enter the area via a small trail. It’ll be
easier access then trying to bushwhack directly to the cache.
It’ll be difficult to get a good reading from under the tree
canopy. It’s near the old rock fence and a barbed wire
fence.
Winter: could be frozen into its hiding spot.
P.S. Thanks 'Inukshuk'er, for recommending this section of the
trail.
