Pyramid In The Sands Traditional Cache
losel2: I have decided to archive this cache due to a newly formed walking trail that has shown up recently within a foot of my cache. Seems that the cache container is being mistreated by those walking on this trail and I am having to fix it often. So far, the container has not been taken, just moved around. I will have to pull this cache and find another location for it later under new waypoint identification.

While pyramids were, for the most part, tombs for the Pharaohs of Egypt, one must nevertheless question the reason that Egyptian rulers chose this particular shape, and for that matter, why they built them so large. Today, we believe that they chose the shape in order to mimic the Benben, a pyramid shaped stone found in the earliest of temples, which itself is thought to symbolize the primeval mound from which the Egyptians believed life emerged. This also connected the pyramid to Re, the Sun God, as it was he, according to some of the ancient Egypt mythology, who rose from the primeval mound to create life. The Benben stone was thought to have been the prototype for obelisks, and the capstones of the great pyramids, based on its design.
Many Benben stones have been discovered, but the remains of others are probably still buried under the sand. There may even be one or more of these stones yet to be discovered. Perhaps one emerging right out of the sand dunes in south Rialto.
