Higganum Railroad River Walk

Walk along the stream that flows from the Higganum Revervoir into the Connecticut River, and then North along the CT River on an abandoned railroad bed.
From Higganum Center head East on Depot road, turning left over a small bridge to park on dead end Nosal Road, which is more of a parking area than it is a road. Walk down a wide trail past the ruins of what was presumably a mill, given its proximity to fast moving water. Look for the micro at the confluence with the Connecticut River, and continue North along the abandoned Providence & Worchester Railroad Line. The final is a 1 gallon joint-compound bucket with a blue top. Please re-hide it well.
This is a nice walk, about a mile each way, mostly level, except for the last 100 feet or so which is somewhat steep. Also watch your footing and that of chilidren and pets at the micro. After completing the final look for a steep path down to a ledge jutting out into the river - worth checking out. Watch for poison-ivy and ticks off the trail. Enjoy the walk and the river views.
