All the 3 elements to finding this cache are within 25 ft of the network of concrete that runs through this wood. I would therefore strongly advise keeping to the ‘pathways’ or you may well encounter boggy ground. A basic map of the airfield hard standings layout (for example from Streetmap below) is recommended. The difficulty level is high due to the tree cover causing loss of signal and the total distance involved.
Note that during the Spring/Summer the runways are sometimes used for motor sports, please observe any temporary Warning Signs that may be erected. Also, on one of my visits during the winter there were a couple of Quad Bikes zooming around. I don't think the FC actually allow them, but you can hear them coming anyway.
It is a very popular dog walking area, the beauty is you can normally see them from miles away!
This cache was originally placed out as part of the local celebrations of a Centenary of Scouting in 2007 under the username 'granthamscouts' but has now been adopted by careygang, as we placed it out.
