BBWolf's First Pig Roast Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

BBWolf+3Pigs: Looks like everyone has logged their attendance on this one.

I had fun, and I hope everyone else did as well.

We'll do this again next year, but watch for the Beer & Wing Night in January!

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

No, we won’t really be roasting a pig, but what else do you call a BBWolf bar-b-cue?

We are approved! The date and time are now set - June 17th, 12-4pm (and maybe even a little later!) This is rain or shine, since we have a covered pavilion. The activties list is still open for suggestions, especially if you would like to host something.

It’s time for another Aquidneck Island Geocachers event, this time outdoors with more room to move around. Starting time is 1200, and will run to 1600 (12noon to 4pm).

This will be an opportunity to meet your fellow cachers, have some fun, and do some serious pigging-out. Events currently on the schedule include:

* Pot Luck Lunch (see below for details)
* Geocache Poker Run – Find 5 caches, grab a sealed envelope containing a playing card from each, and try to get the best poker hand possible. Prizes to be awarded. I have an unactivated RI Geocoin for Best Hand! If you bring your data cable (serial or USB), you may be able to transfer the waypoints from my laptop to your receiver.
* Cache & Dash – Make a mad dash for the “ready-to-hide” cache somewhere on the grounds. FTF gets to keep the cache. Be sure to know how to change coordinate systems and units on your GPSr!
* Raffle - Prizes to be awarded
* An introduction to “paperless” caching – You hate printing out all those listings, just to put them in the recycling bin after the find. Now there are software products that virtually eliminate the need to print out those listings. An overview of some of these tools will be provided. Bring your data cable and pda with you! I will have CD's with unregistered copies of the products discussed, and if you bring a USB drive I can upload them to it.
* Kids GPS Games
* Travel Bug Swap Table – Only for bugs that will physically change hands
* Yankee Swap – Bring a ~$5 value trade item for the table. It appears we have a decent number of kids coming, so I will have separate Kids & Adults swaps
* Sprinkler - If the weather is warm enough, I may have a sprinkler/slip & slide set up for the kids and kids at heart. Bring a bathing suit and towel - there is a bathroom for changing
* Event Buttons - WH has offered to make event buttons - one per user name please! (Thanks WH!)

For the lunch, I will provide hotdogs, grilled to order (as long as you like them burnt). Please bring an item for sharing according to the list below:

* A-I caching name bring veggie, fruit, or salad
* J-Q caching name bring a desert
* R-Z caching name, bring chips, pretzels, or snacks.

Please bring your own beverages (NO ALCOHOL!). Please use this as a guide. If you have a specialty that doesn't fit the above list, please feel free to bring it. Feel free to post a note with what you plan on bringing. There will be grills and a stove available for cooking, as well as refridgerators and freezers.

Glen Park is situated just off of East Main Road in Portsmouth. There is a pavilion in the event of rain, a small kitchen, grills and restrooms. There are playing fields, including soccer, and baseball. There is even a horseback riding ring! The park is dog friendly (but be sure to pickup after any pets).

There are two caches very close by ( GC1951 & GCT17F) and rumors of a nearby puzzle cache ( GCT17F). There are plenty of other caches on the Island that can be found both before and after the event.
