Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Crown King Trail which is a rugged backcountry route and a high clearance 4WD vehicle is required. The trail is well used by OHVs on weekends

Located along the well known “Crown King Trail”, this cache pays tribute to William “Kentuck” Bell, a Civil War veteran who lived in a nearby cabin. Remains of the two story cabin can be seen on the west bank of Humbug Creek.

Kentuck lived in the area until he died in his 90s.

Just south of the cache is a clearing area along the creek known as Burro John, named for “Burro” John Revello, who was a local character. Another was Al Francis, a freighter for the Oro Bella Mine, who had a cabin he called “Fort Misery”, which is located north of the cache.

The cache container is a large camouflaged popcorn tin, located on a small hilltop overlooking the area. An overgrown road, best suited to foot traffic, will lead you to the hilltop.
