This little walk will take you on a fun and educational trip in
Warwick Park. This is a perfect beginner's multi-cache--you will
need to do some simple substitutions to get to each stage, but the
terrain is easy and the walk is suitable for young kids and
families. This is dedicated in memory of a local cacher, Chefhiker,
who tragically died of a heart attack while hiking to find a cache,
enjoying a sport that he loved. Chefhiker learned to cache here at
Warwick Park, so it is fitting that he is remembered here.
ATTENTION!!!!!!!!! UPDATE AS OF 8/23/09: THERE HAVE BEEN
SOME CHANGES TO THIS CACHE. THERE IS CURRENTLY CONSTRUCTION BEING
DONE AT WARWICK PARK, WHICH MAKES ACCESS TO STAGE 1 IMPOSSIBLE, FOR
THIS REASON, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, THE ABOVE CACHE COORDINATES ARE
FOR THE GENERAL PARKING AREA ONLY AND DO NOT PERTAIN TO STAGE 1.
PLEASE DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, GO INSIDE THE CLEARLY MARKED
CONSTRUCTION ZONE!!!!!!! ALSO, NOTE THAT THE FINAL STAGE HAS MOVED
TO MINIMIZE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ON THE PARK (WARWICK PARK
GEOCACHING POLICY REQUIRING MOVE EVERY 3 YRS) THE CLUE PRIOR TO IT
HAS THUS CHANGED, SO IF YOU PRINTED THIS OUT PREVIOUSLY, YOU WILL
NEED TO REPRINT WITH THIS UPDATED INFORMATION!
1. For now, do NOT start at the above coordinates,
which are right off of the parking lot. (40 10.118 and 075 43.244)
There is a phone number on the bottom right hand corner of this
sign which can be substituted by: ABC-DEE-AEFC. BUT YOU DON'T
NEED TO KNOW THIS FOR NOW UNTIL THE CONSTRUCTION IS DONE!!!
The coordinates for stage 2 are (I'M GIVING THEM TO
YOU--LUCKY CACHERS!!!) 40 10.164 and 075 43.430. For
example, if A in the phone number is 7, substitute 7 for all the
A's in the coordinates.
2. You will again be at a sign. On the upper right hand corner,
there will be a picture with text saying what is in the picture. To
find the coordinates to the next stage, you will need to count
where each letter falls in the text--if a letter appears more than
once, use the number that corresponds with the first time it
appears: 40 R0.RID and 075 WD.D0E (the 0's are a given, since you
can't count the "0th" letter!) For example, if R is the 7th letter,
substitute 7 for the R's, etc. Spaces between words do not
count.
3. What is the year found on the pictures on this object? This
will be ABBC. What is the year found on the upper center
picture/graph? This will be DEEF. The coordinates for the next
stage are: 40 DB.DBD and 075 4C.CCE.
4. There is a date on this object. The month is written out, but
convert it to the numerical month and use this to get the
coordinates to the next and last stage: AB/C/ADCE. The coordinates
for this stage are: 40 AB.BEA and 075 4E.AD(C+A).
5. The final cache has been moved as of 8/23/09 in accordance
with Warwick Park's Policy on needing to move or archive caches
every 3 years to minimize environmental impact. It's new location
is more kid friendly than the old location, and I did not have to
walk through any poison ivy to get to it! Final cache is in a clear
2 qt rubbermaid-like container. Please make sure you screw the lid
on tightly when you are done and hide as well or better than when
you found it.
