Located in a beautiful, forested park on a marked, maintained trail. Cache is a 4 inch square snaplock container with some cammo hidden within a few feet of the trail, no bushwhacking needed. Another attempt at accurate coords were taken Aug 2016- N 47' 21.109" W 122' 36.805. You should be searching on the side of the trail closest to the subject of the cache title. Sanican at the main trailhead.
If a tree falls in the forest and a geocacher isn't there to hear it, does it make a sound? It looks as though this one fell before there was any such thing as geocachers, but now there are, and sound or no sound, this is worth seeing, and worth a cache hide.
I discovered this spot while doing trail maintenance as a volunteer on Earth Day 2006.
See the related web page for information about the park and a downloadable map to use in navigating the trails in the park. The park is small, but winding trails and a ravine down the center make it seem larger-but you can't really get lost, all trails eventually will circle you back around. Note where the map shows steep trails and the blue arrows that indicate a creek that is sometimes at the bottom of a deep ravine. Following the trails I indicate is the easiest and most direct way to get around the ravine and to the cache area.
There are several places along the road to park, and trailheads from all of them.
N 47 20.840 W 122 37.262 will put you at trailhead 'E', which backtracks before joining the main trail, but is no longer than other options, and is the prettiest walk in & out. Cache will look like it is about .36 mi. from parking, but since the trails wind around and the distance on your device is as the crow flies, you should know that the shortest route to it is .8 mi.
The main trail parallels the road. If you have a map, head for 'Z'. (Do not take 'J') After you pass trail 'Y' it shouldn't matter which trail you take, or which fork you choose at any junctions you encounter. They will all take you where you need to go with very little difference in total distance traveled. For the final trail designation see the hint.
A note on signal. Dense tree cover is the rule on this hunt. Coordinates will put you close enough for your search skills to take over.
