This cache is located on one of the many trails at Clough State Park in Dunbarton/Weare, NH. These trails are frequently used, especially in the summer when the beach is open for public use. You should keep an eye out for muggles, although the cache is well hidden, so pilfering shouldn't be a problem. Please rehide carefully.
There are a few ways to access this cache. The first route is the easiest but longest, and will keep you on the park's trails the whole time. You can also access the cache from dirt roads on the back side of the park (routes two and three). These routes are much shorter, but you will have to bushwhack and cross a stream at your own risk. The gallery shows some other cachers attempting this.
Instructions for each route:
1) Park at the top of the dam on Everett Dam Road, walk across the dam, and proceed down the trail located on the other side. The cache is about a mile from the dam. If you go this way, you can stay on the trail the whole time. Children should do fine on this nice walk. If you take this route, you will pass a number of other caches along the way.
2) Drive to the bottom of Sugar Hill Road in Weare and into the state park. Using your GPSr, try to park as close as possible to the cache. From this side, the trails do not go straight to the cache. You will have to cross the stream at your own risk.
3) Go to the ATV parking lot at the bottom of Ray Road in Dunbarton and drive through the gate on the back side of the lot. Take a left after you go through the gate and drive about a mile through the Stark Pond WMA until you reach the back gate of the Everett Lake swimming area (this gate is always closed). Then, take a right on E Weare Road. Proceed down this road and try to park as close as possible to the cache. Again, from this side the trails do not go straight to the cache. You will have to cross the stream at your own risk.
The location is easy enough to navigate to, but the cache itself can be hard to find. The cache is occasionally underwater if there are spring floods.
Congratulations to D3OFUS on FTF.
