Geocache Description:

From Highway 85 that goes through Lingle take Cemetery Road to the East. The first two caches are micros (magnetic key keepers) and the final cache is a 40 mm ammo box.

The Old Lingle Cemetery was started in 1897 and has very few graves. For some unknown reason the cemetery was later moved to the East and across the road. The town maintenance crew does a fine job of upkeep on “Hillcrest.” There is a good view of the Town of Lingle and the close by Platte River valley. There may be an occasional snake on the first one but if the grasses are mowed well they shouldn't be a problem.

The local Legion, Post #63, was named after the first local casualty of World War I, Edgar D. Gobble. There are two other men who lost their lives in defending freedom in World War II who are honored here with grave stones as they are MIA. While enjoying the view you may also want to take a look at the 75 mm mode-1918 artillery gun that was donated years ago by the Army Guard Camp in Guernsey.

While in Lingle during the summer take time to rest at the clean and well kept Whipple Park, maybe let the kids swim in the pool or play on the playground equipment. Grab a burger at the local café or a taco at Lira’s or shop some antiques on Main Street. Hope you enjoy this little multi and our Small But Proud Town - good luck!
