Madagascar's First Geocache!
Welcome to Madagascar! As I was planning a trip here to see my sister who has lived in Madagascar for 24 years, I wanted to find some geocaches to add to my list of finds, and when I saw that there were none, I couldn't believe it. A country with such diversity, such amazing people, vistas, incredible flora and fauna and yet no geocaches? I must set this right. I asked my sister where to place a geocache, and she knew just the spot not far from her house in Antananarivo.
The cache is located in Antananarivo (meaning 'city of the thousand', supposedly because a thousand warriors protected it)...it is the capital city, home to about 1.5 million Malagasy people. The cache is located on private property with the owner's permission. It is guarded not by one thousand, but rather by one guard at a locked gate. The guard knows you may be coming to find the cache. Just tell him you are here to find the GEOCACHE. He will let you through the gate and to the general vicinity of the final hide.
You are looking for an Ammo Can. For the first to find, there is an unactivated 5 year anniversary Geocoin, and a Global Girl 24K globe and passport signature item which I thought was fitting for this cache. Otherwise there is the usual logbook, and geocaching tradable items.

for a spectacular view of Antananarivo and close to the Rova or Queen's Palace, which has dominated the skyline of Tana for over a century.
Enjoy the journey to this cache and the view from the cache location particularly at sunset.
