Geocache Description:

Redoubt Volcano, centerpiece of Cook Inlet's I-R-S string (Iliamna - Redoubt - Spurr) of active volcanoes, lies bracketed by cottonwoods in this evening view from the cache.

Tobben's Turn lies at the southeast end of Tobben's Trail, an intermediate-level lighted ski trail running from Kincaid Stadium out to the bluff and back again. The trail loops on a 5K roundtrip jaunt up and down across the gullies and hilltops of Kincaid's south side. It goes all the way out to the bluff, affording travelers a stunning view south across Cook Inlet to the Kenai Peninsula.

Enter the trail to the southeast of the tunnel exit from the stadium, next to the 3 trail signs. Continue to the wye at lightpost number 6593 , bearing right towards the trail sign at the next intersection and the continuation of the lighted ski trail. Stay to the left, on the lighted trail, as it meanders generally southeastward to the Tobbens Turn sign. A small side trail goes up on the ridge, northeast of the sign. You're close to the cache now...

An alternate access route is from the park's east side, at the Jodphur parking lot. Travel westward beyond Jodhpur Loop on the trail that descends through the Ice Box.

After you've found the hide, stroll on another 400 feet to the very top of this dune - the view is breathtaking. Aero and I encountered six moose on our journey to place this cache - be alert! Remember to respect the work that goes into grooming ski trails in the winter - travel by skis only when snow's on the ground.
