This is a two-stage multi-cache that starts at the historical
marker for the town of Moody. This is the eighth in the series
"McLennan County History."
The town of Moody can trace its history to the pre-civil war
settlement of Perry (2 mi. N). In 1881, the Gulf, Colorado &
Santa Fe Railroad bypassed Perry, and a new town was platted on the
land of early settler William Naler. Col. W.L. Moody of Galveston
who supervised the laying of track in the area, named the town in
honor of his family. Incorporated in 1901, the Moody community has
thrived over the years and is the home of various fraternal,
educational, commercial, religious, and medical institutions and
organizations.
When you find the marker, count down to the seventh line from
the top and write down the last word of that line. Use the table at
the bottom of this listing to determine the value of each letter in
the word. Add up these values, multiply the result by 10 and put a
decimal point in front of it. Add the result to both the North and
West coordinate of the following.
N31 18.077 W097 21.885
This will bring you to the final stage.
As an example, suppose the word is CHESS. C=3, H=8, E=5,
S=19,S=19, and the total is 54. Multiplying by 10 gives 540, and
putting a decimal point in front gives .540. Adding this to both
coordinates gives N31 18.617 W097 22.425. Remember to carry past
the decimal point if necessary!
The final stage is a cammoed film canister.
