Beaconbabe and PA Ladi have placed a series of caches along the
new Dismal Swamp Trail. This trail was created when the new Rt17
open and the old road was closed to motorized vehicles. This
portion of the trail is about 6 miles long according to my GPS. It
runs from the north parking lot south to the Dismal Swamp Boat Ramp
parking lot. It is the old road along the canal bank, paved and 2
lanes wide. It is open to hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and
rollerbladers. There are picnic areas and trash cans all along the
trail. We biked 11.3 miles in about 3 hours the day we placed this
series of caches. Park is open sunrise to sunset. PLEASE honor
those rules, there are many nocturnal animals who make this area
their home.
To obtain the coords for this cache you will need to find 6 of
the 7 other caches we have placed along this trail. Those 7 caches
have been dedicated to friends we have met through geocaching. We
have played with their names a bit to name our caches but those who
know them will probably be able to figure out who they are. In each
of those caches you will find a clue written on the log book cover
that will help you fill in the blanks below.
This cache is dedicated to PA Ladi and The Reluctant Cacher's
dog, Heartwood's VIP Razamataze. Raza for short. She is a black and
white American Pointer. On Saturday April 22,2006 a gate blew open
while PA Ladi was at work and TRC was out of town. Raza, frightened
by the thunder storm, left the safety of our yard and was on the
run. Sunday morning a family leaving for church found her lying in
their flower bed, exhausted and barely able to walk. She was about
3 miles from home. Thankfully she still had her collar and tags on
and Chesapeake police were able to contact us. It took us 18 hours
to find Raza. We certainly hope it does not take you as long to
find her cache.
Cache is located at N 36* 40.ABC W 076* 21.DEF
