Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches by Beaconbabe and PA Ladi located along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. This series has been dedicated to friends and fellow cachers. We have played with their names a bit just for fun. Can you guess who they are?

"On little, two little, three little Indians. Four little, five little, six little Indians. Seven little, eight little, nine little Indians. Ten little Indian boys."

But it only took one chief with an SUV full of ammo cans to supply us with what we needed to place this series of cache.

The Dismal Swamp Canal Trail is paved, 2 lanes wide, open to hikers, bikers, horseback riders and rollerbladers. There are several places to stop along the way with benches and picnic tables. This end runs from the north end parking 6 miles south to the Dismal Swamp Boat Ramp. There is another 2 1/2 mile section below the boat ramp. The day we placed the 8 caches on the northern end we biked 11.5 miles in about 3 hours. It is open sunrise to sunset. Please honor those hours as this area is home to animals such as black bear, fox and other animals that travel and hunt at night. Remember you are along the canal bank, insects and snakes could be a problem in warm weather.

This one was named for Cheefy. He chose his caching name because he was a retired navy chief. At the time this cache was placed he lived in South Carolina but visited the area often to see his daughter also a cacher. He now lives on Knotts Island but no longer caches.
