Geocache Description:

This series of 6 caches is based on the popular US TV series ALIAS, shortly to complete its fifth and final year. !I???

Each cache is named after a character from the series as we wanted to bring cachers a little bit of espionage and intrigue. Some knowledge of the series may help, but is not essential. The sixth and final cache can only be completed once the first five have been found as each contains a vital clue to help solve its whereabouts. Each cache tests your skills needed to become a top secret agent and stealth must be utilised at all times to avoid suspicion. Remember, if you are caught, this is a deadly game and the world may be left in jeopardy.

This second mission takes you on a scenic tour testing observational skills. Do not be lulled into security as Jack Bristow has many enemies who know you are here. Keep away from the water’s edge, unless absolutely necessary, as snipers may be lurking in the vegetation. This area can be popular with civilians so do not put them in any danger by giving yourself away. Remember, look very hard and see what you need to see but don’t attempt when in flood! You will find in the final cache clues for the final mission and will need to make a note of it.

Remember: All is not true that is told.

FELMERSHAM

(recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) as Flameresham) This north Bedfordshire village is encircled by the river Great Ouse and at times of flooding is practically cut off from the surrounding areas. The bridge on the northern side was built in 1818 and the parish church of St Mary dates back to 1220. Across the road from the church is a Tithe Barn which was originally constructed in 1428 but was converted into four dwellings in the early 1980s. There is now just the one public house the ‘Sun’ which is a cyber pub.

Across the river to the north is Felmersham Nature Reserve and its 52 acres were created and now maintained by the Beds, Hunts, Northants, and Cambs Naturalist Trusts from old disused and flooded gravel pits. The Reserve is noted for a wide range of dragonfly and damselfly species and a wide variety of butterflies. Five wild orchid species can be found here. Please observe the Country Code when visiting. Keep your dogs under control and please ensure you clear up after them. There is a lot of deep water and paths will at certain times be very slippery and muddy so take care with small children. Please do not attempt this multi-mission at times of flood or when there is a covering of snow.

See http://www.felmersham.net/ for more about this delightful little village.

Parking and starting with Clue 1 at co-ordinate N 52°12 837 W 000°33 384

You will see a sign but don’t expect charity in saying which number to look for. A0B041C

When found you will have clues A, B and C

Now cross the roadway and head for Clue 2 at N 52°12 909 W 000°33 155

From here you can discretely view the lake – count the number of Cygnus olor you can spot for the answer to D.

On your way again to Clue 3 at N 52 12 937 W 000 33 084. This bridge may be mined so take extra care – you need to count the number of concrete slats and divide by 4 to give E.

Your journey takes you to a check point, Clue 4 at N 52°13 016 W 000°32 964 but before passing through you should record as F the number of diagonal struts on both access structures.

You have to travel a little further for your final Clue 5 out of the reserve and to the south-east at N 52°13 162 W 000°32 612. This may well be booby trapped so do not cross but you will need to record the number of ‘blue industrials’ in the structure at ground zero [PLUS 1] for clues GH. I struggle to get the right answer for these: to check, or as an alternative, G is the number of V's and H is the number of A's on the angling club sign.

You now have all the knowledge to locate the Final Cache of this mission at:

N 52°13 AH(ExG) W 000°32 (H-A)(DxB+C+F)E

This is quite a small cache with the clues you will need to help you find the final cache in the series, so please make a note of the clues and replace with the completed log - there is room for little else! Please make sure it is closed securely and replaced as found.

When placed the original cache contents were:

  • Log book, pencil and disclaimer note
  • Jewellery
  • Playing cards
  • August Angel
