Geocache Description:

"Meles Warren" is a traditional cache set in a small wood to the South East of historic Winchester. It is reachable from various paths and tracks providing wonderful views of the area.

You are searching for a camouflaged plastic container (a cylinder of about 5 litres) that has been recycled into a cache and placed in woods in the Longwood Warren area of the South Downs. It contains the usual fare -- a log book, a few trade items, and room for a couple of modest-sized itinerant travel bugs.

If you fancy a decent length walk then park at the child-friendly Ship Inn pub at Owlesbury, or for a shorter walk try the Cheesefoot Head car park (N51 02.785 W001 14.784) off the A272 (take great care crossing this busy and fast road). Either way there are enough paths and tracks with rights of way that you can conduct an enjoyable circular walk talking in open vistas, surprising footpaths, and ancient forests. The tracks to the South and West are especially suitable for mountain biking, or even a pram (with large wheels).

Note: You don't need to walk off the signposted paths until you are within approx. 100 feet of the cache. You don't need to breach any fences. As always, please respect the landowner's rights and tread lightly.
