A great viewpoint overlooking Shire Hill and Glossopdale.
The cache can be approached across moorland from the Pennine Way or by a steady climb from Old Glossop. The cairn is at the edge of a complex area of knolls, depressions and small crags that comprise the fascinating remains of Glossop Low Quarry. In 1811, paving slabs were being sold from here at one shilling per square yard or 1 shilling 7 pence if transported down to Glossop.
