This is one of my favorite spots in the area, the views are hard
to beat. Take your time to check out the great rock formations and
also listen for the famous Lake Tahoe Cheeseburger birds. They
really do say "cheeseburger"! We noticed the elevation was 6555
when we first scouted out the area, but as it turns out, the cache
is actually a few feet from the highest peak at 6545.
The .5 mile round trip hike can be made in under an hour. Not
recommended for sandals, so make sure you have sturdy shoes and
some water if it's warm out. Obviously, as with other caches in the
area, the terrain rating and difficulty go up significantly if
there is snow on the ground. There is a bay area geocoin left for
FTF.
NOTE: No matter what your GPSr says, the cache is not located on
Highway 50, and Highway 50 is *NOT* the closest access point. Also,
please be sure to hide the container well so it is completely out
of sight.
