Alport Heights. Easy cache at popular view point with topograph on boulder south of Peak National Park, near Wirksworth, Derbyshire. In SUMMER gorse vegetation makes find harder.
Can be found in snow.
This area was just crying out for a geocache at this view point, conspicuous for the sparsity of caches. Visit on a fine day. Use topograph to recognise nearby features.
Alport Heights was the first property bought by the National Trust in Derbyshire, in 1930. Height barrier to two excellent car parks. Nearby compounds with aerial masts and trig pillar. Bring binoculars for views and if logging trig pillar.
Yellow gorse in old overgrown sandstone quarry with interesting tall stone pillar. Larks singing. Derby Sporting MCC motocross circuit on south east slope of Alport Heights.
In SUMMER gorse vegetation makes find harder.
CAUTION SHARP DROPS INTO OLD QUARRY from car park if with excitable children.
Room for small swaps and trackables.
Things to remove from a cache and not to swap in the first instance. Food stuff, sweets, batteries, coins, plasters (Band-Aid) anything in a sachet, anything liquid, marker pens.
Originally placed by Flipflopnick, adopted by Muddy_Puddles on 2nd April 2014.
