A remote, historic location along the old stagecoach route from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon. Also close to the Arizona trail.
Cache is hidden near the old Moqui Stage Station-the third relay station between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon.
People interested in following the entire Route Via mountain bike or 4 by 4 should get the book "Grand Canyon-Flagstaff Stage Coach Line, A History and Exploration Guide" by Richard and Sherry Mangum. Otherwise use Highway 64 north of Valle to access forest road 320 near Red Butte. This road will take you approx 14 miles to road 301 which will lead you to the stage station. The cache is near the stage station but hidden a short distance away from the ruins and artifacts. Cache contains a FTF prize of a book about the history of the area including the stage line. The stage station was the third relay between Flagstaff and the Canyon where horses were changed and rested, and passengers got to stretch their legs during the 16 hour trip that cost between 15 and 20 dollars back in the 1890's. Be careful, roads, especially last 3 miles or so can be very muddy during wet weather, don't rut the roads and give the Forest Service reason to close the road. Also leave any artifacts and ruins as you find them.
