The Rhino Game

It’s been a number of years since I’ve read about The Rhino Game. In fact, I’ve recently search the web looking for the book in which it came from, but I have yet to locate it. The book talks about the behaviors of a rhino and by using the principles of a rhino you can charge ahead, and by being very focused on your goals to get what you want to achieve in life.
Many times when we are driving we go into this twilight zone, yes we are driving but we go into an automatic cruise control. When driving long distances many times we aren’t really focusing on anything, except maybe trying to stay awake. The Rhino Game will give you the opportunity to have some fun on those long trips and help others get out of the driving twilight zone at least for a little while. We use to play this game more before we started geocaching on long road trips.

Here it is THE RHINO GAME:

- The object of the game is to get the driver of the car you are passing on the freeway to get out of the twilight zone.
- You need to be focused and alert.
- The game works best if there is more than one person in your vehicle, but if your alone that is fine (just makes it more challenging).
- As you are passing a car wave to the driver in that car. Keep waving ‘til you get a response or ‘til you have passed the car or the car passes you.

POINTS:

- 5 pts. If you get the driver to give you a full fledge wave back.
- 3 pts. If you get a slight wave.
- 1 pt. If you get acknowledged.
Bonus points (you get to regulate your scoring on these)
- If all the people in the car wave back at you (it is easy to get kids to wave, but the adult are a little more cautious).
- If just the passenger waves back.
- With truckers, if you get a wave and a honk of the horn.
- After they wave, if the passenger looks at the driver and it looks as if they said “who was that?” or “do we know them?”

Variations of the game:

- If you have a partner in your car, they will guess what type of response they can get from the next car you pass.
- Keeping track of how many responses in a row you can get.
- Well, you get the idea.

It is very fun to see the people’s reactions and it helps to make the trip go by a lot quicker.
Have snaps of fun with The Rhino Game

Not advised to do in heavy traffic areas, some people even though they look zoned out they are very focused during this driving time.
