Geocache Description:

Blewett Washington....Ghost Town

This is the site of Blewett Washington. It was a mining community in the 1800's and was deserted after the ore veins got worked out. Above the cache site is the stamp mill where they took the rock and crushed it into workable size chunks. There is a trail to the south that goes up to the top of the creek area. It is a 2 mile hike with an elevation gain of 2000 feet. On the way up you will pass by the remains of the mines in a couple different areas. At the top of the area is a building and equipment that was part of a plan to start the mines again but was BE CAREFUL These are the old mines and some of them have not been closed off. Be sure to keep your eyes on children at all times if you hike the area. It is a good hike to do on a Saturday. While in the area you should also check out the ARRASTRA. There is a cache hidden there. Also go over to the highway markers and log the Historic markers that are over there on WAYMARKING.COM You are looking for a small tupperware box in the rock wall below the stamp mill. Enjoy the area.
