This is a traditional cache located in Spud Wood near the village of Oughtrington. Spud Wood straddles the Bridgewater Canal and was established in 1997 by the Woodland Trust as part of their ‘Woods on your doorstep’ project. It is also the start of the Mersey Valley Timberland Trail which ends at Runcorn Hill 22 miles away. Although there are no paved paths the going is easy and there are plenty of options for a pleasant stroll around the wood. There is a car park at N53 22.984 W2 26.912. The cache is a 0.67 litre ‘klip lock’ plastic container with the usual collection of small swap items. Thanks to the Woodland Trust and Matt Buckland for permission to place the cache.
