Yakucache Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is located just off a main trail in Shiratani Unsuikyo,
the Yaku Sugi tourist hiking area in the northern part of
Yakushima.
We made our first cache, in Yakushima, a World Heritage site with
many beautiful mountains, trees, granite formations and wildlife.
Shiratani Unsuikyo is a hiking area rated by most as Easy to Low,
mainly due to the elevation changes and the moisture in the area
that makes it slick at times. Shiratani offers a few trail loops,
with a few extensions to reach Sugi not along the main path. This
cache is on an extension in the southern part of the area, and is
tucked back away from the trail enough to avoid the average hiker
looking around. The cache itself is a small tupperware type
container, with a clear blue lid, and with a pen and log book. We
put a few items in it to start it out, including a cute red dog
magnet from "At the feet of Tokyo Tower". The cache is a bit off
the path, so you can search around with little chance of being
seen. The area is a bit large, but it is relatively flat. GPS
reception was good.
Admin Note: The hider of this cache is unable to maintain it.
The first finder is requested to remove the cache. It will be
archived after the first find. Thanks.
