Parking at Trials Area Of Frances Crane WMA, off Rte 151 next to the ballfield. Nice walk on level ground.
Frances Crane Wildlife Management Area is 1824 acres total. This Trials Area is 1511 acres.In the fall this area is stocked with Pheasant. Hunter Orange is required during these months. Quail,Grouse,and Woodcock can also be seen along with Deer,Coyote,Fox. On a typical weekend there are horseback riders,Hunting dogs,and a personal favorite, Scale Airplanes.Ideal place for Mountain bikes, and hikes.
Oak and pitch pine woodlands interspersed with many small fields and "rooms" (planted plots for game), one large open area which was formerly a grass-strip runway. There is a single two-acre pond that is the only standing water is this area. Most of the trails are even ground, gravel roads, or well worn paths. Nice place for a sunset.
This is our first cache so we put some goodies in it and will stock it up with treasures from our travels-$$$
