Geocache Description:

Parking for this cache is at the Park HQ at N42 12.569 W 071 36.365.

This 4 part multi cache is in the Upton State Forest near the Upton/Westboro town line in Upton Massachusetts.

This is a replacement for the original multi (GCAE67) called simply "Geocache" that was placed by Suruki in November 2002. (visit link)
the former cache has been archived because the previous owner is no longer active.

Parts 1, 2 and 3 are small lock & lock plastic containers that have the coordinates for the next part. The 4th and final container is a larger one to hold the log and trade items. Please don't leave stuff in the containers at each preliminary stage. In fact, there is probably no need to actually open the container. This will hopefully keep the coordinates nice and dry and doing their job for years. to come.

Hunting is allowed in the State Forest so proper precautions need to be observed during hunting season. Dog owners should also be aware that coyotes and Black Bears are known to be in the area.

The total walk for the entire cache is in the neighborhood of 4-5 miles. Mountain Bikes are allowed in the state forest. Anyone wanting a shorter version (about 2 miles) can send a message and request the coordinates for part 3 where you would then find the coordinates for the final.

GPSr reception in the State Forest is typically frustrating. It's good to grab a trail map from the kiosk at the parking lot or print out your own. (visit link)

Team Periwinkle have created a downloadable Garmin custom map that will add the state forest trail map as a layer in certain Garmin GPSr units. It is very cool and quite handy, assuming you have a GPSr that can handle it. You can go here to get the map and details on how to use it. (visit link)

Thanks to fosterd for providing the missing coordinates, and BoxerHo and SailGirl that assisted in recreating this cache.

The Upton State Forest is a 2,600 acre forest which offers multiple trail uses including hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. This area is very popular with dog walkers, but the park is so large you will hardly see anyone else.

There are other caches in the forest, be sure not to miss them.

Good luck and happy hunting.
