Geocache Description:

This cache is located just east of the highest point in Arkansas, on Mount Magazine, elevation 2753 ft. Groundbreaking was in April 2004 for the construction of the lodge and cabins. Completion was May 2006 and open for business. This is one of Arkansas'premiere state parks.

This cache is located on the Mossback Ridge Trail on top of Mount Magazine inside Mount Magazine State Park. This is area is a very beautiful area and is unusually flat. There is no poison ivy in the immediate vicinityof the cache. I saw several animals the morning I placed the cache. While this area is now part of the state's 50th state park it is still a wild area. In fact, the cache location is near two food plots and a wildlife built by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission while the area was under the control of the National Forest. Please log any animal encounters.

The cache is accessible from various trails and locations. Find or view a trail map of the park at either the visitor center or the new lodge and pick your spot. You can start from the lodge area, the Benefield area and the Visitor Center area. If you forget to load the coords for the caches in the park, you can go by the lodge and either ask for the coords or use one of the computers in the business center. The Park Ranger is a geocacher here.

This cache container is a 50mm ammo can. Don't miss the highest point in Arkansas if this is your first visit to the park!
