Hurricane Old city dump Traditional Cache

Located on Virgin river. 20 minute hike. Beautiful view.
Take a main city road (I won't say which one) to its northern end and it turns into a dirt/gravel road. Keep driving on the gravel road--it is a public road. You'll pass two houses on the left. Keep going and you'll come to a gate most likely closed. Park here even if it is open, and read the interesting sign there (hopefully, it's still there) and see what the city of Hurricane has in store for this area. Also note from the sign that pedestrians, equestrians and bicyclists are welcome.
Your hike from this gate will be about 15-20 minutes, if you do it right. If you pass an abandoned cement foundation on your left, then you missed the correct turn for the shortest way to the cache. You can turn around and find the turn or you can just keep going down the steep hill and loop around left and left again heading south and get to the cache from the opposite direction--it is a pretty hike this way but just takes longer than the 15 minutes for the shorter route. In the summer be prepared to get lots of foxtails in your socks and shoes. And it's extremely hot around here in the summer!
The dump has some small broken glass and junk around but it's nothing like jagged bottles or great danger. (And yes, this used to be the Hurricane city dump) There is path here that goes through and around and below the dump. My kids and I (some young--so it is not too difficult a hike) enjoy exploring this area, the great scenery. Fist-sized rocks along the path may pose a threat for twisted ankles so be careful. There are other caches close to this one so you may want to check them out too. My cache is in a large ammo box
