A pleasant walk down the former East Somerset Railway between Shepton Mallet and Wells.
The railway formerley linked Witham Friary to Yatton.The line opened to Shepton in November 1858 and reached Wells in 1862.The line,known as the Strawberry Line closed to passengers in 1963.It closed for all other traffic by the end of that decade.
This part of the track from Dulcote to the outskirts of Wells is now part of the National Byeway.Parking is by the old railway bridge in Dulcote.
There is a climb at the start of the byeway but the it is mostly flat with a slight downhill gradient towards Wells.
Due to the tree cover the co ordinates were a bit different each time they were taken.The clues are quite specific so there should be no problem - hopefully!
The co ordinates given are for the first stage.
This is a piece of sculpture.
