Geocache Description:

Flat terrain, suitable for all, but watch out for the symptoms!

The stone is said to have an "atmosphere" about it. People report feeling strange or suffering from headaches when they are close.

Molly the Dreamer is also supposed to have dug at the Longstone, where she did find gold, but lightning flashed just as she was about to lift it out; after that she was never the same again.

Superstitious mothers were in the habit of passing ricketty children through a hole in this stone with the idea that they would become strong, but another interpretation was that if newborn babies were small enough to be passed through the hole they were deemed to be to sickly to live and were killed.

In common to many stones, there have been attempts to move the Longstone, and in this case by attaching it to several oxen, but apparently 'something held it firm'.
