THE PATH TO THE CACHE STARTS AT THE PAY AND DISPLAY CARPARK .THERE IS ALSO ON STREET PARKING WITH A SHORT WALK TO THE CARPARK.
THE CAR PARK IS BY WHAT WAS ONCE SANDSEND STATION.
THE FOOTPATH YOU ARE GOING TO FOLLOW WAS ONCE THE ROUTE OF THE OLD WHITBY TO MIDDLESBROUGH RAILWAY LINE,AND IN 1883 COST £42000 PER MILE WHICH WAS A FORTUNE IN THOSE DAYS.
IT WAS HOPED THAT THIS LINE WOULD TRANSPORT MINERALS AND ORE TO TEESIDE,BUT THIS WAS NEVER REALISED AND THE LINE WAS CLOSED IN 1958.
THE PATH FOLLOWS ALONG SOME RUGGED COASTLINE AND IS IDEAL FOR BIRDWATCHERS.
