Dave Ulmer's Tool Box Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ralfcoder: This cache has had a good run, but it has been muggled once or twice, and the intermediate stages keep attracting bugs. So I've decided to archive it, and free this area to let other caches be placed nearby. Thank you to all that found it and appreciated it!

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the shores of Lake Delta on S Canal Rd. on the west side of Lansing. Please park at the parking lot across from Erickson Park.

The cache has 3 stages, and at each stage you'll need to use a different tool or tools to move on. The final stage is a standard ammo box. The first 2 stages are - well, they're camoflaged.

Who is Dave Ulmer, and why did he leave his tool box out here? Well - he didn't. But you'll need some of your tools to solve this cache.

Dave Ulmer is the reason you're reading this right now. He invented geocaching. For more information, you can see his Wikipedia entry at (visit link) .

To solve this, you will need the following items:
- your GPSr (duh)
- a medium size phillips screwdriver
- Two 7/16 inch wrenches - they can be box end, open end, or sockets - crescent wrenches will work, too, even if they're metric.
- a pair of tweezers.

The last stage has the usual geo-loot in it. It also has some fishing tackle. Heck, this is a nice place, you might as well bring a rod along and spend an afternoon fishing!

One caution: if you have to borrow someone's tools to do this cache, be sure - be VERY sure - that you bring them back promptly, and in clean condition. This goes especially for you young cachers who are planning to raid Dad's tool box, OK? 'Nuff said!

Oh, yeah - when you reassemble things at each stage, use a little common sense. Don't drive the screws so hard that they strip the hole. And tighten the bolt so that it's more than finger tight, but not so much that it distorts the container and it leaks, or the next person can't open it.

Please note that this park is closed from November 1 to April 1, weather permitting. Please check with the township if you're close to those dates to see if it's open or not. The Delta Township parks & recs website is (visit link) Look for the link for "Lake Delta" there. Have fun!

NOTE: to deal with ants, I have put a moth ball in both the 1st and 2nd stage. Please use care to keep them from falling into the lake, especially at the 1st stage.
