Geocache Description:

In Memory and in Tribute to two of my favorite Dales.

What better town than one named Dale to place my tribute to my two favorite Dales! The late Dale Earnhardt, and his son Dale Jr.  Back in the late '60s and ‘70’s, I would watch the Indianapolis 500 on Wide World of Sports. Later in the ‘80s I started to catch NASCAR races on ESPN. I became a fan of Dale Earnhardt. I continued to be a fan until his untimely death and remain so today. So, that is what has inspired me to drop this cache in the town of DALE!!

DALE , TEXAS . Dale is on Farm Road 1854 some seven miles northeast of Lockhart in Caldwell County. It was named for the valley in which it is located. A post office was established there in 1880 when the Missouri, Kansas and Texas line built through the town, and in 1885 Dale had seventy-five residents, three general stores, and a steam gristmill and cotton gin. By 1905 the local school had 112 pupils and two teachers. Dale grew to 250 residents and fifteen businesses by 1914. Its population declined to 200 between 1925 and 1943.  In 1947 the community's population reached 275. In 2000 the population was 500.

Original contents contain Dale Jr. TB, assorted racing swag and good ‘ol Dollar General goodies!!
